Automated Chicken Coop & Insect Trap System
June 2022

Technical Implementation
✅ Automated Lighting Control: Installed a system to turn lights on/off based on a schedule, improving chicken well-being and egg production.
✅ Smart Coop Door: Designed an automated door mechanism that opens in the morning and closes at night, ensuring protection against predators.
✅ Nighttime Insect Trap: Implemented an insect-catching system using a bucket with an integrated light trap, attracting and capturing insects to serve as natural chicken feed.
✅ Mobile Application: Developed an app for remote control and monitoring of the system, allowing users to adjust settings and receive real-time status updates.
✅ Network-Connected Arduino: The Arduino UNO communicates with the network, enabling centralized control and automation of all installed systems.
This project optimized farm operations, reducing manual labor while creating a self-sustaining ecosystem.
Project Overview
This project focused on automating key aspects of a chicken coop 🐔, enhancing efficiency, using an Arduino UNO connected to a network.
The automation was commissioned to protect the birds from cold temperatures at night and to provide them with a natural food source by capturing flying insects.
A DIY insect trap was designed ensuring a nutritious diet for the chickens 🐞🪲𓆣.
Additionally, a custom mobile application was developed for remote operation.
On the left, you can see the automation of the chicken coop in action through the web interface. On the right, inside the bucket, you can observe how the trap opens and closes. This happens only at night, as that's when 🪲 flying insects are active. The light turns on to attract them, and after 30 minutes, the trap closes, repeating the cycle
